Portraits of Mayleng

Last 2 sunday YN organized portraiture photoshoot. A group of us went there without an idea of what YN had in mind. Upon reaching the destination, we found the place very interesting. It was another good experience for me.

Pinang Peranakan Mansion

It was still early when we finished shooting the jetty. We headed to Pinang Peranakan Mansion since Jonsern have not shot there before. It was my first time there and so we paid and went in busy photoshooting. There was actually a tour guide that explains everything in the mansion and the history of the mansion. However, i was busy photo shooting that i didnt follow the group with the guide. It was another good experience for me. We left the mansion and Jonsern dropped me back to the jetty to get my car. Least did i know that someone parked the car right in front of my car blocking my way (only way) out. I tried to ask around and people claim that cars parked in the middle should not have their handbrakes engaged. Sadly, that car was. I waited until the person came to take the car. Let's see what the mansion has for us...

Chew Jetty

Last saturday, YN planned to shoot the sea. I invited Jonsern to join us. After discussion, we decided to change the plan as there wont be clear blue sky to shoot at and photos wont look nice with the hazy background. Therefore i asked Jonsern to suggest a place. He suggested the Clan jetty since he has never shot there before. I cant recall when was the last time i was at the Clan jetty. I suppose i must be too young to remember. Anyway, we met up, parked our cars and we headed for Chew jetty, the famous one. Let's see what the jetty have for us.
YN and I went to visit Jonsern at his office last week and seek his help on how to get the autoviewer running in blogspot. However, it does not seem to be workable as we do not have our own file server. As such, Jonsern recommended us to use picasaweb slideshow and it is very much simpler.

Let's meet Adeline

It was 2 weeks ago when Adeline was in town for the weekend. I suggested that we should go for photo shoot and she can be my model. I was so excited and happy when she agreed. It was such a nice day for photo shooting as there was clear blue sky (now is hazy sky) .

Penang Floral Festival 2009

There were so many events over the weekend and yet there were people everywhere. Since my friends were all tied up with other events, i decided to drop by botanical garden for the Penang Floral Festival 2009. When i saw cars parked along the roadside far far away from botanical garden, i wanted to turn back and head home thinking that i wont be able to get a car park near enough. Then i thought, since i am already there, why dont i just try my luck and head back if i really fail to find a place to park. I did find a spot by the road side which is illegal but well, RELA people were there and so i guess it is just fine :p I didnt get much photos as most of them has barricade surrounding them. Anyway, it is still a opportunity to learn and explore :)

Switch World 2009

My friend YN informed me about this event and i tag along with him for this event. There is actually a photography contest for this event and the place was packed with cameramen. Not to mention that i was attacked by other cameras multiple times. Most often, their external flash will be hitting my head as i am surrounded by them. I dont have an external flash and quite a lot of my shots were overexposed due to surrounding flashlight. But it was indeed a good opportunity for me to learn to shoot.

National Horse Show 2009

This is the first time i heard of such event. Where have i been? It was a good opportunity for me to practice more photoshooting and i tag along with my friend YN. The place was super packed and mainly with children. Although there are other events occuring on the same date, the crowd is still huge. I did not have much photos as children were running around, knocking me here and there (especially when i have my bulky camera bag around) and busy blocking the view without knowing or should i say care that i was about to take a photo. The clock tower was presented to the Penang Turf Club by Cheah Tek Thye Esq. in the year 1902

Practical training with Boxster

With so much disappointment from my previous wedding shots under the dim lighting, i consulted my friend YN for help. He suggested that we should go to some place with dim lighting to see what went wrong and what could improve the photos. He suggested to go G-hotel since its a good place with dim lighting. I went there without having an idea what should i shoot for training. As i walk towards the lobby, i was excited to see such a beautiful model for me to shoot. Boxster was there at the right time and the right place. Who is Boxster? Check her out below. *Note: Thanks YN for all the time and effort*

The wedding of Leonard and Annie

As mentioned in my previous post, i bought my camera on time for my cousin's wedding. I was not happy/satisfied with the shots that i have. I made a few mistakes and ended up with only limited shots that were presentable.

The newly weds are happily giving out angpows :)
No more angpow to give (hehehe)
This is the second attraction of the day, my cute nephew, baby Shen
This is my niece, little Shean who has an adorable face. This is bad photo editing, just wanted to make her stand out in this photo.

My very first photoshoot

I finally bought myself the Nikon D60 that comes with kit lens 18-55mm VR. I used to the word finally as some of my friends may know, i have been saying that i wanted to get one but kept giving myself a reason to postpone it. Once i decided to get the camera, i make sure that i get it on time for my cousin's wedding which is on 31st May. Below are some of the photos of my very first photo shoot using my brand new D60. My very first model is my beloved pet rabbit. I still need to work on photo composition. Feel free to drop me comments.
